Public Debate Fall '17
On November 16th, 2017 the Sacramento State Debate team will present a public debate on the issue of
"Should Tuition be free at the CSU?"
This event is free and open to the public.
The doors open at 7:15pm and the debate should last until about 9pm.

The goal of the Public Debate Association is to advance the values of debate in the public sphere through sponsorship of one or more public debate activities and through general promotion of public discourse to promote critical examination of public issues for diverse and general audiences.
Each semester the Sacramento State Debate Team, as part of its Public Debate Association, will engage in a public debate project. To this end, the members of the debate team and students enrolled in COMMS 111 will be required to participate in a variety of assignments in support of the public debate event. Participation in this activity is worth a total of 100 points and students will be asked to do the following
The Public Debate Association is an important part of the debate team and the success of the event each semester is dependent on the participation of each student enrolled in COMMS 111.
- Brainstorm/research topic area
- Research and propose panelists for the forum
- Research and write questions
- Design and print posters/flyers (campus resources should be available for this)
- Participate in word-of-mouth/social media promotion
- Help set-up/clean-up
- Additional activities based on the issue
The Public Debate Association is an important part of the debate team and the success of the event each semester is dependent on the participation of each student enrolled in COMMS 111.
